Although you should certainly\nfollow CDC guidelines by staying home, washing your hands, and disinfecting\ncommonly touched surfaces, there\u2019s one area that has been largely overlooked. This\nhighly contagious infection enters the body through the mouth or nose, which\nmeans that it is particularly imperative to take care of your oral health\nduring this time. Even though you aren\u2019t able to visit your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.williamsburgdentalllc.com\/emergency-dentistry.html\">dentist\nin Lincoln<\/a> for your dental checkup and cleaning right now, you can do your\npart with these five at-home care tips to protect yourself and your family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Brush and Floss Like Normal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Even if you are working from home and never leave the\npremises, you need to keep up your usual oral hygiene routine. Brushing twice\nand flossing once every day helps to control the bacteria in your mouth, which\ncan help you fight off infections. You can do\nthis by submerging the toothbrush in boiling water for about 5 minutes, soaking\nit in 70 percent alcohol solution or a bleach solution, or putting it in the\ndishwasher for a full cycle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Keep Your Distance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>COVID-19, like many other viral infections, is transferred\nvia droplets that originate in the mouth that enter the air and come into\ncontact with another human. While you\u2019re out at the grocery store, you stay\nremoved from those around you, just in case they sneeze or cough in your\ndirection. But especially while you brush or floss your teeth, maintaining a\nsafe distance from others (about six feet) can ensure that you or they do not\nbecome exposed to infectious oral droplets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Don\u2019t Share<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You likely already know that you shouldn\u2019t share\ntoothbrushes with another person, even a family member, but even sharing the\nsame tube of toothpaste can expose you to the virus. Each person should have\ntheir own toothpaste and floss and ideally even their own toothbrush holder to\nprevent the heads from accidentally touching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With some extra precautions and smart adjustments to your\ndaily routine, you can be more likely to keep yourself and your loved ones\nhealthy through this pandemic.
